Privacy Policy
How Dotin Skills collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Dotin Skills (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the online learning platform at dotinskills.com (the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you.
By creating an account, purchasing a Course, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, and password when you register.
- Billing details: billing name, address, and country provided at checkout.
- Profile information: any optional bio, photo, or details you add to your profile.
- Communications: messages you send us through contact forms, email, or support channels.
Information collected automatically
- Learning activity: courses enrolled in, lessons accessed, completion percentage, quiz attempts, and certificates earned.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and pages visited.
- Cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 5.
2. How We Use Your Information
- create and manage your account and grant access to purchased Courses;
- process payments, issue receipts and invoices, and handle refund requests;
- track your learning progress and issue certificates of completion;
- respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
- send transactional emails such as purchase confirmations and password resets;
- send marketing communications where you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- improve the Platform, diagnose technical issues, and detect or prevent fraud and abuse.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract (delivering Courses you purchased); your consent (marketing emails, non-essential cookies); our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Platform); and compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
4. Payment Processing
Payments are processed by third-party payment gateways. Information you enter on the payment page is transmitted directly to the gateway and is subject to their own privacy policies. We receive only a transaction reference, the amount, the payment status, and limited details such as the last four digits of the card or the payment method used.
5. Cookies and Tracking
- Strictly necessary: required for login, checkout, and security. These cannot be disabled.
- Functional: remember preferences such as language or last-viewed lesson.
- Analytics: help us understand aggregate usage patterns.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Platform from working.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Platform — hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and analytics;
- Instructors, limited to aggregate or course-specific progress data for their own Courses;
- Legal and regulatory authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights and users;
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and learning records for as long as your account remains active, so you keep lifetime access to purchased Courses. Transaction and invoice records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove or anonymise your personal data except where we are legally required to retain it.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS/SSL encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and regular software updates. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
9. Your Rights
- request a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your account and associated data;
- withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time;
- object to or request restriction of certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email dotinacademy@gmail.com from your registered email address. We may ask you to verify your identity first.
10. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Learners under 18 should use the Platform only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
11. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
Courses and pages may link to, or embed content from, third-party sites such as video hosts. Those sites collect data under their own policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
